Update: National University Commission(NUC) Suspends Part-Time Programme In Nigeria, Put 10 Million Students Out Of School!
Some few days ago the National Universities Commission(NUC) made a public announcement that all part-time programmes in Nigerian Universities will be suspend, If you miss out on the publication, you can read it here –> NUC Suspends Part-Time Programmes in Nigeria Universities
Due to that developments, statisticians have estimated that about 10 million students will be affected, most of the part-time students are workers.
The Stakeholders in the Nigerian education sector have expressed displeasure with the decision to suspend part-time programmes in Nigerian varsities.
The National Universities Commission (NUC) said that the accreditation of 30 courses in the National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN) would satisfy the needs of this categories of Nigerian students who see part-time studies as a way of improving themselves and enhancing their careers.
Following the suspension of these programmes, it will affects the Nations literacy level, by putting about 10 million students out of school.
This move by the NUC, is it for our good? Because personally i won’t like to be thrown out of school after spending money, wasting time.
Right now, the only alternative to Part Time programme in Nigeria is National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN).
