University Ranking: 28 Nigerian Universities Ranks the Best In Africa

Comprehensive news reaching us has it that Prof. Suleiman Bogoro, the Executive Secretary, Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFUND), on Thursday, said 28 Nigerian universities were ranked among the best tertiary institutions in Africa. Bogoro made this known at an interactive session with members of the Civil Society Organisations (CSOs)ised by Partners for Electoral Reforms (PER) in Abuja.

Since “four to five years ago, no Nigerian university was ranked among the top 100 in Africa, but today, the story is different” Prof. Suleiman Bogoro said.

Prof. Bogoro also said “I am happy to work with staff that believe that education is the best avenue through which we can make Nigeria rise to more competitive level in the international community.’’

Prof. Bogoro, also added to his speech that since over the last four years TETFUND had made huge investment in tertiary institutions across the country. “I thank God that even the National Universities Commission (NUC) credit TETFUND for that progression.’’ He said.

He urged CSOs to continue to push for electoral reform, noting that “if we get the electoral process correct, it is likely to move Nigeria forward and deepen our democracy.’’
