Professional exams, General studies test set to hold today postponed.

The strike action embarked upon by the students of the University of Nigeria, Enugu Campus, today, entered its 4th day, and all students related activities remain grounded.

Today, the students were able to understand the strength of the power they hold in the University, knowing that there is No University without the students.

The Professional examination for final year students of the Medical Laboratory science, MLS-501 set to hold today, has been postponed, as well as the General studies 202 and 208 tests all set to take place today, till the students call off their strike.

Also, with regards to the 5 demands made by the students, the Hostel WIFI services has been activated in the hostels as requested, and this has been confirmed particularly in the most neglected boys hostels.

Today, the University management, in particular, the Deputy Vice Chancellor of the Enugu Campus of the University, invited the Student Union Leaders to the 3rd Negotiation meeting since the strike action began with a hope of reaching a common resolution and the students calling off their strike.

The meeting was attended by the President, Vice president and all members of their executive, the Speaker and Deputy Speaker as well as principal members of the legislature, most Faculty and departmental presidents as well as Hall governors. At the meeting the students Union still maintained the Stand of the students regarding the strike, that only when the issues placed before the management has been tackled would the strike be called off. The students leaders also included a note of caution, that No one should attempt to break the keys used by the student to lock the classrooms as was reported in some lecture halls, which has been locked again. This the DVC promised to discuss with the security department as well as deans of faculties to avoid any vandalization of student Union keys locking lecture halls as the class rooms is the jurisdiction of the students.

The Deputy Vice Chancellor thanked the students leaders, and promised to present the matters of the students to the Vice chancellor as a matter of urgency.

The DVC, after the meeting with the students leaders called an emergency meeting of all committees with regards to the matter at hand and also woukd see the VC as a matter of urgency, regarding calling the examination committee of the University with a view to reviewing the academic calendar and adjusting the examination, to which the student Union demanded 3weeks to 1 month.

The students Union still stand on their demand for;
1. A new generator to power all hostels, including libraries and classrooms, @least 1500KVA
2. Extending lectures and examination by 3 weeks to 1 month
3. Generator light should be from 7pm to 12 midnight.

The meeting came to an end and both parties promised to meet their council and find a way to reach common grounds.
