It is no longer news that the Nigeria Polytechnics has been on strike for over 9 months and nothing has been done to resolve it.
The ongoing strike embarked by the Academic Staff Union of Polytechnics, ASUP has turned Nigerian polytechnics to wasteland, most especially all the Federal Polytechnics in Nigeria.
Taking the Federal Polytechnic in Ado-Ekiti as an example, all the Business centre operators, vendors, photographers and commercial motor-cycle operators, who used to be around whenever students were on campus have disappeared because of the protracted strike, hence making the school to be a ghost town.
The people who operate businesses in Polytechnics have lamented the effects of the strike. Mrs olamide a food vendor said before the Asup strike, she could easily make daily sales of Twenty thousand naira (N20,000.00) daily. But since the strike began, she hardly makes N2,500.00 daily.
A cab driver, Mr. Rotimi said he had not been able to feed his family because of the strike. (Nigeriaschool Advice: Mr. Rotimi, should use his vehicle in other part of the state until school resume.) Mrs. Demola Adebiyi and Abiodu Elizabeth, a business centre operator and others, shared a similar view that their sources of income have been crumbled by the Asup strike.
They appeals to the Federal Government and Academic Staff Union of Polytechnics to reach an agreement and end the strike for the interest of all.
Fed.govt wif asup should plz reach a concrete aggrement cos injustice 2 one is simply injustice 2 all,dey ar wastin our tym.we don finish project 4 fed.poly.offa nd we no see lecturer 2 submit 4….we don tire oooo
