SSANU Strike Update (UNN)

There’s a war going on, one such war that affects us all whether we like it or not, whether we want it or not.

This war demands we choose sides; not between rich and poor, not between black and white. No! It’s a much harder choice than that.

It is a choice between good and bad, a choice between dignity and servitude, between commitment and indifference.

The only thing necessary for evil to triumph is for good men to do nothing! We have struggled with rigor to survive through dark times of prevalent harsh economic and sociopolitical realities.

When will our struggle end? Times ago it was ASUU, then it was NASU, and now it is SSANU, who knows what’s next? The flawed system we operate is stealing the future of both the rich kids and the poor children.

This negligence scourge, especially from the federal and state levels concern every one of us and we cannot be indifferent about it! There’s erratic power supply, inadequate water distribution and poor hostel sanitation and maintenance.

The student’s affairs department is closed; the newly admitted haven’t cleared, and exams are just around the corner! I believe strongly, that we have a resilient and responsible university administration with a sworn resolve to ease our turmoil as we fight to restore the dignity of man.

I humbly call on the administration and the university Senate to dialogue with the aggrieved demonstrators and resolve these issues and END THE STRIKE!

I believe strongly, deep down in my guts, that if we, Lions and Lionesses of University of Nigeria Nsukka, UNN, mobilize our voices and challenge this flawed system of negligence, there is nothing we cannot achieve, there is no destiny we cannot fulfill…

So let us make it trend, let them hear our concerned voices and remind them of the freedom in our bones.
