THE 2014-2015 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination, (UTME) conducted by the the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board, (JAMB) which begin on the 12th of April, 2014 and ended on the 31st of May, 2014, has ended and it ended successfully, but one recurring problem is that we are all aware of. And that is, out of the 1,606,753 candidates sat for the JAMB 2014 UTM-Examination, about 75 per cent will NOT gain admission into higher institutions of their choice.
And about 500,000 candidates (which is 35 per cent) will be admitted into their school of choice.
And you may wonder why?
According to report, the number of Individuals seeking admission into Nigeria Universities outweighs the carrying capacity.
An average Nigerian university has a carrying capacity of 4,500 space.
Nigeria does not have enough higher tertiary institutions to accommodate the total number of applicants seeking for admission each year even after such candidates have successfully scaled through Jamb and post-UTME screening.
Another reason why gaining admission into higher institutions in Nigeria is something else, is because Jamb candidate has to score 180 and above to be admitted by a university; 150 at least to be admitted by a polytechnic or a College of Education.
From the above requirements (Jamb Cut-Off Mark for Universities, Polytechnics and College of Education), about 351,232 JAMB Candidates are already disqualified from partaking in the post-utme screening exercise, for failure to meet the minimum 180 and 150 score as stated above, and also invalid results and absenteeism.
Some candidates will be disqualified still for wrong subject combinations.
For Individuals who don’t want to waste another productive year at home, you are advice to seek other options.
Some of them are:
* You can study in any University in Ghana with just your O’Level Results (But you must have enough money for ghana tuition fees as well as for accommodations and feeding)
* You can also take advantage of IJMB (Interim Joint Matriculation Board)
With IJMB, you don’t have to worry about your Jamb/Putme score anymore, you can secure admission into 200level with ease using IJMB.
What is IJMB
IJMB (Interim Joint Matriculation Board) is a federal government approved program of 9 month. IJMB doesn’t require jamb neither your Jamb score, all its requires is your O’level results, (WAEC, NECO, NABTEB etc)
(5 credit one(1) sitting, and 6 credit in two(2) sittings).
Although, awaiting results candidates can also apply, but you must obtained your complete O’Level results before gaining admission into any Higher Institutions in Nigeria.
Be careful, there are FAKE IJMB centers in Nigeria, ensure you do your research very well before applying. The programme cost a lot of money…
