According to the Report, The Ondo State University of Science and Technology, (OSUSTECH), Okitipupa is one of the fastest growing institutionin Nigeria, the Institution is barely Two years old, the first set of students were admitted into various academic programmes offered by the Instituion two years ago, ever since then, two sets have been added making a total of 3 sets (the 100, 200, and 300 level students).
OSUSTECH is one of the few schools that has a high priority for entrepreneurship and skills development, also sites a farm and several industries where various products and produce are being fetched out daily, due to its zero tolerance for corruption and cultism, it has been lauded by some monarchs, scholars and organizations within and outside the state/country, and has been allowed to operate in the environment where its been sited.
At present, OSUSTECH is allowed to run 10 academic programmes in 4 department and 1 faculty which are:
Faculty of Science
Department of Biological Sciences
– Botany
– Fisheries and Aquaculture
– Microbiology
– Zoology
Department of Chemical Sciences
– Biochemistry
– Industrial Chemistry
Department of Mathematical Sciences
– Computer Science
– Industrial Mathematics
Department of Physical Sciences
– Geophysics
– Physics
All programmes running under interim/mock/temporary accreditation by National Universities Commission, NUC.
Presently, its a season of joy for the students and staff of the Institution as the accreditation team of NUC will be visiting the School on Monday, 25th of February 2013 for the full accreditation for all the programmes available, an event which may last about 10-14 days, while waiting for this, the previous weeks had been full of activities ranging from installations of various facilities and the cleaning of the environment which is a custom earlier on, the staffs of the institution are doing all they can to make this exercise to be a success.
The students of the Institution will be playing their part also, they are been asked to comport themselves and be good ambassadors of their school, to dress properly and avoid any anti-social activities during and after the exercise.
