NBTE suspends All Engineering courses at Federal Polytechnic Idah

Breaking News: Latest report reaching us here on has it that the National Board for Technical Education, NBTE has suspended admission of students into all engineering programmes at the Federal Polytechnic, Idah, Kogi State.

According to the report, the suspension comes as a result of a petition by the National Diploma students of the Federal Poly. Idah.

In the petition sent to the NBTE, the Poly Idah students lamented the absence of practical learning in the polytechnic’s School of Engineering. Stating further that the school laboratories has been locked permanently due to lack of facilities.

They also complained about low practical learning for engineering programmes in the polytechnic due to a large number of students in each departments.

Following this, the National Board for Technical Education through the public Relation Officer of the board Mallam Suleiman Gwarzo, have issued a statement suspending all engineering programmes offered in the institution.

Excerpts of the statement read, “The investigation confirmed the students’ allegation, after it was observed that at the (ND) level, the number of students enrolled was between 300 and 400 students.

“This was in violation of the approved carrying capacity for the programmes.

“Based on the above observations and to ensure that standards are maintained, the board has directed that the institution should stop further admissions into its engineering programmes.

“This, according to the statement, will continue until all the deficiencies observed are corrected.”

The statement added that the board had also advised the Registrar, Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board, JAMB, Prof. Dibu Ojerinde, to accordingly stop all processes of admission into all engineering programmes in the institution for the 2015/2016 academic session.

Note: For those who chose Federal Polytechnic, Idah as their choice institution in the Jamb UTME 2015 CBT examination are hereby inform that there will be no admission process into Engineering courses.
