The latest information reaching us reveals that the school management of the Lagos State University (LASU), Ojo, on Wednesday, 21st May, 2014, approved a new academic calendar for the 2013/2014 session, and this academic calendar was released a day after the lecturers of LASU declare an indefinite strike due to school fee hike.
According to the report, the Academic Staff Union of Universities, (LASU Chapter), had on Tuesday, 20th May, declared an indefinite strike at the University.
What is the cause of LASU strike 2014?
Their demands, amongst others, is for the reduction in the institution’s hike in tuition fees.
The Lagos State University Deputy Registrar, Mrs A.T Fatogun, in a signed bulletin, admitted the commencement of the lecturers’ strike but urged the students to go about their normal academic activities.
From LASU academic calendar, May 19th and May 20th is declare the resumption date and online registration for students, while lectures would hold for 11 weeks from May 19 to August 1.
