Kaduna State Govt Awards Overseas Scholarship to 125 Undergraduates!

LATEST report reaching us has it that the Kaduna State, Governor, Mukhtar Ramalan Yero, has awarded about 125 foreign scholarships to the state’s doctorate, masters and undergraduate medical students. (www.nigeriaschool.com.ng)

According to the report, the students will be studying medical sciences, engineering, applied and natural sciences in Malaysia, Ghana, South Africa, India, New Zealand, Egypt and Uganda.

While speaking with newsmen, the governor of Kaduna State, Mukhtar Ramalan Yero said; ‘the purpose of the 2014/2015 Overseas Scholarship Awards was aimed at improving the human capital to accelerate socio-economic development of the state’.

“There are 22 PhD, 77 MSc and 26 MBBS candidates selected to pursue their respective programmes in countries such as Malaysia, Ghana, South Africa, India, New Zealand, Egypt and Uganda.”

The successful candidates were selected after a thorough screening exercise with all the 23 local government areas equitably represented.

So far, the administration of Kaduna State has spent a total of N1.4billion on internal and external scholarships since it assumed office on December 16th, 2012 in addition to a recent approval for the disbursement of N119, 992,692.00 as scholarships to new students.
