My Observation and Suggestions on the Jamb 2014 UTME Results
Out of 1,005 2014 JAMB UTME results I checked (Withheld and Outstanding Results excluded), non of the candidates scored up to 240.

* 7 candidates scored between 200 and 239.
* 800 candidates scored between 180 and 199.
* 160 candidates scored between 160 and 179.
* 30 candidates scored between 100 and 159.
* 8 candidates scored below 100.

This embarrassing poor result is a serious indictment on our O’Level exams (WAEC and NECO) where many candidates usually made ‘As’ and ‘Bs’. This is because if candidates genuinely made the interesting O’Level results, there is no reason for them not to score at least above 250 in JAMB UTME.

Furthermore, I expected the results of Anambra-rians to tally with their wonderful recent WAEC performance. Though most of the Jambites are not fresh secondary school leavers but at least most of the freshers among them are expected to score above 280 to show that they are really outstanding.

Sincerely, the states should adequately equip their secondary schools to be industries of knowledge instead of becoming producers of baseless ‘As’ and ‘Bs’ in O’ level examinations.

It is also believable that most students no longer study for examinations and this can be the major cause of this embarrassing JAMB UTME failure.
