GeoAfrica Donates Weather Station Equipment to FUTA

GeoAfrica Environmental Managers Donates Weather Station Equipment to FUTA

Management of the University has received a donation of Weather Station and surveillance Camera from GeoAfrica Environmental Managers Limited.

The donation which includes one Unit Electronic Weather Stations with the accessories, one unit dual powered (Solar and Electric) outdoor surveillance camera with inbuilt street light and 32 Gigabyte memory to store surveillance data for upward of one month before download is meant to upscale research activities in the field of Remote Sensing and Applications, Climate Science and Behavioural Sciences.

According to the Director of Centre for Space Research and Applications (CESRA), Professor Joseph Akinyede the weather station will facilitate research and capacity building in the areas of weather conditions, as well as climate change and behavioural sciences.

Conveying the message to FUTA, Professor Oluseyi Fabiyi of GeoAfrica Environmental Managers Ltd, said “the equipment can be deployed for urban climate research such as weather and climatic perturbations, outdoor thermal comfort of people, behavioural pattern of people to different weather conditions and people responses to sudden changes in weather”.

He also said that the research options fall in the domains of remote sensing technology, climate science and behavioural science.

The organization also promised to deploy its staff to assist in the installation and short training in data archiving of the surveillance and weather data sets.

Acknowledging the donation, the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Adebiyi Daramola said it is in recognition of FUTA’s giant strides in the technology business and also further confirms her as the leading University of Technology in Nigeria. The University has since written to appreciate the organization’s kind gesture.
