From the statistics reaching our help desk, The Federal University, Oye-Ekiti, (FUOYE) Ekiti State, admitted only 550 candidates out of the 8,000 applicants who applied for admission into the institution for the 2013/2014 academic session. The Vice Chancellor of the University, Professor Isaac Azuzu, gave the figure on Friday, last week, at the 3rd Matriculation ceremony of the institution.

Prof. Azuzu said that the figure represented 7.5 per cent of the applicants. (Yeah, you read that well, 7.5 per cent out of 100 per cent!)

The V.C advised the successful applicants who are admitted into the Institution to make the best use of the opportunity by studying hard to prepare themselves for the future.

He charged the fresher (newly admitted students) to shun all forms of crime including stealing, cultism and examination malpractice as this could results to expulsion from the University.

“The university has zero tolerance for cultism; anyone caught involved in cultism will be expelled and thereafter prosecuted,’’ Prof. Azuzu warned.

The state Governor, Dr Kayode Fayemi, said at the event that his administration donated N20 million to support the various projects going on in the two campuses of the university.

Dr Kayode Fayemi gave the assurance that his administration would continue to assist the university in development projects.
He charged the students to combine academic excellence with good conduct to be able to face the future.

Dr Kayode, said that university was not only for education but also for character molding.
The two campuses of the university are Oye Ekiti and Ikole-Ekiti. (NAN)
