Read the press release by Comrade Famuyibo N Oluwasegun, who NANS Deputy Senate President.

Following the peaceful protest led by the leadership of National Association Of Nigerian Students (NANS) on the ground that we demand the immediate intervention of the school management on the demands of the Trade Unions of the institution under the umbrella of ASUP, it is a high level of wickedness on the part of the management as we did not see any means of reconciliation between the management and ASUP.

Furthermore, as the welfarism and progress of our students is very paramount and Germaine and having watched with keen interest the non chalant attitude of Dr Mrs T T Akande, the leadership of NANS will as soon as possible go on street to mobilize against this heartless being.

We felt that her attitude was due to the fact that her children are not affected,as such she’s not concern with the success of our students on that campus.

In lieu of the above, and for the interest of our students who has been sitting at home for months without any form of attention from both the school management and the federal government as it is a federal school, the Office of the Deputy Senate President of NANS has by this statement issue a 7 days ultimatum for the rector of the polytechnic to meet up with the demand of ASUP or face the wrath of Nigerian Students as we will embark on a peace protest that will be tagged “AKANDE Must GO”.

Again,we sincerely appeal to ASUP Federal Polytechnic Ado Ekiti chapter to as much as they can shift ground no matter how small so as to allow our ready to learn students go back to classroom, that is if the rector is willing to attend to the issue on or before the stipulated period of time.

We also appeal to our teeming students to stay calm as we have received the official notification sent by some aggrieved students as such we plead to our students not to take laws into their hands.

We promise to continue to champion the course of better welfarism of all Nigerian Students without any condition or negotiation as it is our only strength to fight for a better Nigeria.

Solidarity Forever!!!

Comrade Famuyibo N Oluwasegun
NANS Deputy Senate President
