The Academic Staff Union of Polytechnic (ASUP) and the National Executive Council (NEC) will holds a mini NEC meeting/workshop next week in Nassarawa State and it is predictable that the strike will be called-off after the meeting.
The chairman of The Federal Polytechnic, Ado Ekiti Chapter, Comrade Tunji Owoeye told NANs, that the Union will meet next week in Nassarawa State for a workshop/mini NEC meeting where all Chapters Chairman will be present. He also said the 10 months old strike might be called off during the mini NEC meeting as the strike issue is part of
their Agenda.
Comrade Owoeye described the recent intervention of the House of Representative Members as a right development. He said, and I quote, “the issue of ASUP/COESU strike was raised on the floor of the House 2 days ago, the House is now really involved”. He also said the Federal Government had constituted a Committee to look into the issue of HND/BTech in which the National President of ASUP is a member.
We will inform you the date of the meeting and the results as well. We hope the strike will be called off and the polytechnics to return to school.
