FINALLY! FINALLY!! FINALLY!!! ASUP 2014 STRIKE HAS BEEN SUSPENDED!
Congratulation! Lecture starts in ALL Polytechnics across the nation by Tuesday 15th of July, 2014.
NB: The Asup strike was suspended for just 3 months to allow room for negotiation with the new Minister. If by September there is no concrete result in the negotiation ASUP would return back to strike.
If you recalled, the Polytechnic lecturers had been on strike since October, 2013.
The latest Breaking News reaching us reveals that The Academic Staff union of Polytechnics, ASUP, has suspended its 10-month-old strike, therefore students and staffs can now return to classroom.
The ASUP strike, which started in October 2013, was suspended on Saturday, 12th July, 2014 at the National Executive Council, NEC, meeting of the union held in Abuja.
The National Publicity Secretary of ASUP, Clement Chirman, confirmed the suspension of the strike to Newsmen.
He said all striking lecturers have been directed to resume work on Tuesday, 15th July, 2014.
The ASUP NEC meeting was held two days after the leadership of the union held a ‘fruitful’ meeting with the new Education Minister, Ibrahim Shekarau, who was sworn in by President Goodluck Jonathan on Wednesday.
The ASUP NEC consists of all chapter (polytechnic) chairmen of the union and the national executive of the body.
At last, the ASUP vs FG movie series has ended. If you ask me to rate the movie, it is baseless, it lack everything a good movie should have. Next time they should come up with a good plot.
I would like to inform you that the ASUP has been suspended, but it is only for three months. If they Federal Government and Academic Staff Union of Polytechnics, ASUP does not come to an agreement, the strike or better still, the movie series will continues.
