The Management of The University of Benin has announced that they will resume academic session on the 4th December, 2013. This is the directive given by the Federal Government to all the Universities in Nigeria.
The FGN issued an ultimatum to all the striking lecturers to resume on or before the 4th of December 2013, now extended to the 9th of Dec. which was countered by ASUU who are saying that except their demands are made NO lecturers will resume in all the Universities in Nigeria.
The latest report reaching us from The University of Benin (Uniben) reveals that there were no lecture/teaching going on as class-rooms were empty, and registers were not being signed by any lecturer which shows their unwillingness to resume. (Please Uniben students, don’t waste your money to travel to school until it is confirm that the Asuu strike has been called off and lecture has commenced fully)
Mr. Ekpen Osaigiede a HOD of Political Science UNIBEN, said “the FG needs to meet our demands, not using of force or giving ultimatum, until that is made, no lecturer will b seen in classroom”.
A reliable source told us that unless the Federal Government meet ALL the demands of ASUU, the strike will NOT be call-off on the 9th Dec.
