President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan reveal during the presidential media chat that, The Federal Government is working effectively on the lingering Academic Staff Union of Polytechnics, ASUP, and the Colleges of Education Academic Staff Union, COEASU strikes.
He told us that the “Polytechnics are being handled by the appropriate committee.” And also he addressed the issue of “No work, No Pay Policy”
He said and I quote; “In our constitution, it’s unambiguously stated that if people go on strike for a day, they should not be paid for that day. You will forgo your salary for that one day because you want to communicate with the public and the Government about your concerns.”
We are aware that the strike embarked upon by ASUP is almost reaching its 8 months, and COEASU for five months and the Federal Government gives it less concern and now the #BringBackOurGirls saga has taken over and we are sure no body care about ASUP and COEASU Strike for now…
The F.G has inaugurated the Committee saddled with the responsibility of bridging the dichotomy between holders of Higher National Diploma, HND, and First degree, if you missed it, read it here.
The committee was introduced on Tuesday, 6th May, 2014. by the Supervising Minister of Education, Barrister Ezenwo Nyesom Wike on behalf of President Jonathan.
Inaugurating the committee, Supervising Minister of Education said it was in line with the final process of resolving one of the key demands of the Academic Staff Union of Polytechnics, (ASUP), who have been on strike.
We hope the strike will be called off soon.
