ONE of the giant telecom company in Nigeria, Etisalat has awarded 50 Nigerian undergraduates from different Nigerian universities with One hundred thousand naira, (N100,000.00) each in the Etisalat Merit Award. (www.nigeriaschool.com.ng)
Students who benefited from the award were 10 students each from the following universities;
* The University of Lagos (UNILAG),
* University of Benin (UNIBEN),
* Obafemi Awolowo University, (OAU), Ile Ife,
* Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH), Ogbomoso, and
* Adekunle Ajasin University, (AAU), Ondo State.
The selected students had a Cumulative Grade Point Average from 3.89 to 5 points in their academic records.
A presentation by Team UNILAG, “Project Social Media Centre” was adjudged third best while the first and second position went to UNIBEN and OAU respectively.
The Etisalat Merit Award is a scholarship scheme designed to fulfill the company’s goal of empowering the society through knowledge acquisition and promoting education within Nigeria.
The Etisalat Merit Award scheme focuses on awarding grants to second and third year students enrolled in any Tertiary institution in Nigeria.
