LATEST report reaching us has it that the National Universities Commission (NUC) has scraps the award of Pass Degree in Nigerian Universities with effect from the 2013/2014 academic session. (www.nigeriaschool.com.ng)

This is according to The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), Prof Abdullahi Zuru the Vice Chancellor of Usmanu Danfodiyo University, Sokoto, disclosed this on Wednesday, 4th February, 2015 at the UDUSOK 2014/2015 matriculation of 4,133 students of the institution.

Prof. Zuru further disclosed that this has far reached implications on the grading system of students in universities.

NUC Scraps Pass Degree in Nigerian universities - NAN

According to professor Zuru, what this means is that the minimum pass mark for courses in the universities will now be 45 percent, that is, D-grade, instead of the previous 40 percent which was E-grade.

It also means that the minimum class of degree to be earned by students will now be Third Class. He further stated that no university student would henceforth graduate with a Pass Degree.

The Vice chancellor of UNIZIK advice all the students of Nnamdi Azikiwe University to hereby enjoined to work hard to earn their stay in the university.

Failure by any University from adhering to this policy will attract the wrath of the National University Commission (NUC) headed by the Executive Secretary, Prof. Julius Okojie. NAU please take NOTE and educate your students more on the issue.
