The Nigerian Institute of Advanced Legal Studies, NIALS, on the 13th of January 2013 has released the Lists of the Top 10 Law faculties in Nigerian universities.
The statement made by the Director-General of Nigerian Institute of Advanced Legal Studies, NIALS, Professor Epiphany Azinge, SAN, the action of the Institute in releasing the names of the universities was in-line with its statutory responsibility of providing information, supervision, guidance and advice to researchers pertaining to legal education in Nigeria.
The Director General named the following Varsities as the best Universities that offer Law.
Top 10 Law faculties in Nigerian Universities 2013
The universities includes,
1. University of Benin, Uniben
2. Ahmadu Bello University, ABU
3. University of Lagos, Unilag
4. Obafemi Awolowo University, OAU
5. Lagos State University, Lasu
6. University of Jos, Unijos
7. University of Nigeria, Nsukka, UNN
8. Igbinedion University
9. Babcock University
10. University of Maiduguri.
These Universities according to Nigerian Institute of Advanced Legal Studies, (NIALS) are the top 10 higher institutions in Nigeria with Law faculties.
The body said the Institution were chosen as the best 10 varsities after intensive research and collation of scientific data on Nigerian law faculties was carried out.
According to the DG, Azinge her said and we quote. “Our duty demands that we undertake a project of this nature to promote standardization and for the mutual benefit of the students and institutions. Thus, the essence of this ranking is to challenge Nigerian law faculties to improve standards in all aspect.
“This ranking is not interminable as law faculties that were not captured in the top ten rank are encouraged to improve their standards significantly so as to stand a chance in subsequent years. Whilst those ranked are encouraged also not to rest on their oars but to work tirelessly to maintain already set standard,”
