It is no longer news that gaining admission into Nigeria University is a tug of war, more than 1.9 million applicants will apply for admission and less than 600,000 candidates will be admitted into all the Institutions in Nigeria. What will happen to the 1+ million candidates who are not admitted? of course they will apply for JAMB again the coming year and the coming year and those who are graduating from secondary will join the race. That is why Parents/Guardians who can afford it, send their children/wards to study abroad. And some to Ghana. (Small Ghana of yesterday!). As you can already tell from the title of this post- 600,000 Candidates has registered For Jamb Computer based Test (CBT). Yes, Six hundred thousand candidates! And the statistics for Paper Pencil Test (PPT) has not been released yet, but am sure it will be more than 1.4 million!
Like we stated above, a total of 600,000 Jambites have so far registered for JAMB’s newly introduced Computer Based Test (CBT) for the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) 2014.
This news was made available by an Assistant Director of Jamb, Mr Anthony Eneji
Mr Anthony Eneji, said the programme was carried out by JAMB to phase out the Paper and Pencil Test in the UTME by 2015.
He said one does not have to be a computer literate before taking the CBT.
“A little knowledge of computer is all that is needed for the CBT process. I believe most of you, if not all, can use GSM phones.
“There is no much difference with that; only that you need to know how to use the computer mouse”, he said.
Mr Anthony Eneji, said the Computer based test automatically addresses the problems of improper shading, general examination cancellation and delay in receiving results, among others.
He urged the 100 students the agency used as a sample for the training on the CBT to ensure that they stepped down what they learned to their friends back home. (NAN).
