Announcement: The Nigerian Stock Exchange is calling for entries for the 11th edition of its Annual National Essay Competition for secondary and tertiary institutions in Nigeria.

The competition is open to students in senior secondary school and tertiary institutions in Nigeria. The topic for the senior secondary school category is: What are the Benefits of Good Corporate Governance? while the topic for the tertiary institution category is: Corporate Governance and Nigerian Capital Market Development. Discuss.

Prizes to be won

** Secondary Schools:
1st Prize: N200,000 (Two hundred thousand naira only),
2nd Prize: N150,000 (One hundred and fifty thousand naira only),
3rd Prize: N75,000 (Seventy five thousand naira only) and
Consolation Prizes: N15,000(Fifteen thousand naira each) each for 34 Runners-up.

Prize to be Won By Tertiary Institutions:
1st Prize: N300,000 (Threehundred thousand naira only),
2nd Prize: N200,000 (Two hundred thousand naira only),
3rd Prize: N100,000 (One hundred thousand naira only) and
Consolation Prizes = N20,000(Twenty thousand naira only) each for 34 Runners-up.

Entry Procedures and Rules:
*** Only one entry per person is allowed.
*** All entries must be accompanied with the competitor’s entry form.
*** Entries must be original, unpublished and typewritten in English Language, in not more than 2,000 (Two thousand)words).
*** All entries must be submitted via email to essay@nse.com.ng on or before November 12th, 2012 .
Please note that:
** All entries become the property of The Nigerian Stock Exchange and will not be returned.
** The decision of The Nigerian Stock Exchange panel of judges is final.
** All national winners are entitled to a certificate and plaque.
** 1 st Prize winners’ institutions shall receive a trophy each.
** 34 state winners including FCT shall receive consolation prizes.
** Names of winners and runners-up will be published in selected newspapers.
** Equivalent cash prizes will be given out in form of sharesof quoted companies.

  • it is a nice initiative but things like this in nigeria may be manipulated. I would just advice nigerians to learn about stock investing and save part of their financial resources in other to invest .
