EKSU STRIKE UPDATE: Following the suspension of 4weeks industrial action embarked on by Ekiti State University, EKSU, ASUU Chapter. CampusReel had an exclusive phone interview with the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Oladipo Aina of the institution who re-affirmed ASUU have decided to “suspend” the strike in the best interest of the students.

When asked about examination, the VC said ” since the main reason ASUU suspended the strike was to allow students write exams, so we’ve no other business but conduct an examination immediately. When questioned about the students preparedness toward the emergency exams.

He further added ” emergency exams? They’ve been preparing for this exams for over 7weeks. I don’t think it would be an emergency exams. As students, they should imbibe the motto of boys scout which said “Be Prepared”. I’m sure most of my students who went home didn’t go home for jamboree but to be studious” when asked about the date for exams, he said ” you know we are lagging far behind, this semester has started since October, 2014.

This is April, 2015. I’m sure the students would be back to school from tomorrow and most of them if not all would be back to school by Sunday if all things go well with the election. All in all, I don’t think it would be a bad idea if we start the examinations next Wednesday.

Though I’m not saying we are starting on or not starting on Wednesday. I would only implore the students who haven’t paid there tuition fee to do so between Monday and Tuesday to be on a safe side”. The Vice Chancellor furthered appreciated ASUU for agreeing to suspend the strike in the interest of the students.
