The management of Osun State Polytechnic, Iree, Osun State, has ordered the immediate closure of all study centres operating in its name.

The polytechnic also declared that all its part-time programmes should henceforth operate on the institution’s main campus in Iree.
This was contained in a release signed by the Media Relations Officer of the institution, Mr. Tope Abiola.
According to him, the decision is part of efforts put in place by the institution’s Rector, Dr. Olusola Agboola, to improve on the academic standard of the polytechnic.

He added that the decision was also in line with the directive of the National Board for Technical Education on the operations of part-time programmes by polytechnics and technical colleges across the country.

The release stressed that the institution would not compromise its standard in producing resourceful graduates, who should be able to compete favourably with their peers in the labour market.

To achieve this, he added that the institution had included practical courses and entrepreneurial programmes into the curriculum of the polytechnic.
Abiola added that the institution had put in place state-of-the-art equipment in all laboratories and studios in the institution that would enable the students to carry out practical courses and entrepreneurial programmes that would enhance their skill acquisition efforts.

The release further explained that part-time programmes of the institution would be run in accordance with the rules and regulations guiding its operations as laid down by the NBTE.

Abiola disclosed that the institution had set up a monitoring team whose membership included members of staff of the institution and security operatives to ensure that nobody use the name of the institution to operate part-time programmes or study centres.
He said that the institution would arrest and prosecute anybody, organisation or agency that used the institution’s identity to operate any part-time programme.
