The Nation Executive Meeting was earlier schedule to hold yesterday, wednesday, 13th November, 2013 to conclude if the ASUU Strike should be called off or not, but unfortunately, one of the member going to the meeting had an accident that claim his life. Professor Festus iyayi lost his life on tueday morning while going for the NEC meeting. And due to his death, the meeting was postponed indefintely.
The ASUU Leaders were so angry that they have to chase the governor of Kogi State out of the hospital when he came to see the remain of Prof. Festus. (for those who don’t know: The gov. convoy caused the accident that claim the life of Prof. Festus.)

ASUU NEC meeting to hold saturday 16th november, 2013

From the latest report reaching us, the suspended ASUU Nation Executive Committee, NEC meeting earlier postponed in honour of Late Prof. Festus Iyayi, a renown novelist, former ASUU president and prominent leader of ASUU has been scheduled to hold on Saturday, 16th November, 2013. (between, this information is given to us from an insider)

Our source reiterated that the news of of Prof Festus Iyayi’s sudden death came as a rude shock to the union; most painfully, Late Iyayi was on ASUU official assignment when he met his untimely death, so there was nothing the Union could do to honour the late hero at the point than to put on hold it NEC meeting scheduled to hold in Kano on Wednesday 13th November. “There is strong indication that the NEC meeting will be reconvened on Saturday”. Unless ASUU leaders re-decides, the NEC meeting will hold on Saturday. he told newsmen.

When asked if the strike will actually be suspended, he said: “I think so, judging by reports from the Monday congresses we held simultaneously, the union may suspend the strike on Saturday or Sunday.”
It will be recalled that ASUU had suspended indefinitely it NEC meeting where decision to either end or continue the lingering strike will be taken due to the death of Late Prof. Festus Iyayi, a former ASUU president.

So, we are hoping that ASUU Strike will be called off before this week-end and University students can return to their various school next week monday… we hope.
