The latest information reaching us from ASUU chairman is that the Asuu Nec meeting was not postponed indefinitely. Trust us when we say Asuu and the Federal Government are confused, they can say one thing today and lie about it the next day… If you recurred, one the Unionist member went on Television some days ago and said the ASUU NEC meeting has been postponed until the late Prof. Festus had been buried. and they said, the date of the next ASUU Nec meeting will not be fixed until 7 days of mourning declare for late prof. Iyayi is over. if the date is not fixed yet, it simply means Indefinitely… abi i lie?
And today, here is another news from the Chairman of ASUU and believe me, in the next few days again, they will doubt every word here. You can read all the latest news from ASUU here-> www.nigeriaschool.com.ng/asuu
The Chairman of The Academic Staff Union of Universities, (ASUU), at the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University, Bauchi, Dr Lawan Abubakar has described the media reports as false and speculative, that the union had postponed its National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting indefinitely.
He went ahead to dismissed the claim that the union had accepted the NGN1.3 trillion offered by the Federal Government, saying ”what the union is agitating for is the full implementation of the 2009 agreement and nothing less.” (www.nigeriaschool.com.ng input: keep waiting for the 2009 agreement… the F.G has done their best and you A.S.U.U should do your best also- our Children needs to return to school!)
Dr Lawan said in an interview with Vanguard Newspaper, yesterday 20th November, 2013, in Bauchi that the National Executive Committee of the union only adjourned its meeting for seven days to enable it mourn Prof Festus Iyayi who died in an auto crash involving the entourage of the Kogi State Governor, Capt. Idris Wada, adding that the members were awaiting further directives from its national leadership on a new date for the NEC meeting. When a new date has not been fixed, it is consider INDEFINITELY!
Anyways, from the last report, The NEC meeting will hold tomorrow, 22nd November, 2013 and you can read more about it HERE, but the ATBU chairman does not mention this in his Interview with Vanguard Nigeria. does this means that it is another false news from ASUU $ FG?
We hope and pray that the ASUU 2013 Strike will be called-off. Most Universities are already pulling out of ASUU and it is time for the Union to meet before more Institutions shun ASUU nationwide strike to resume their academic session.
