The latest on Asuu Strike is good news and if the Federal Government can obliged to the demand made by the Union, the strike will be called off. According to Punch Newspaper, the members of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) in their NEC meeting held last week Friday and Saturday, they agreed that if the Federal Government can pay them the four months salaries while on strike, the ASUU Strike will be called-off.
Also, another condition is that the F.G should release the promised N100bn immediately and the strike will be over.
”That was why we decided at the NEC meeting that the government should pay us the arrears of salaries being owed us since we started the strike on July1 before the strike can be called off. The salaries should not be paid piecemeal.
“For instance, the N100bn he (Jonathan) agreed to inject into the university system in 2013 should be released to the universities immediately. So, we decided that before the strike could be called off, these two conditions and others must be met not by promises but by real action.”
If you recurred, The Academic Staff Union of Universities, (ASUU) had embarked on strike from the 1st of July, 2013 to protest against the failure of the federal government to implement the agreement they signed in 2009.
So, Nigeria Students, the lingering ASUU Strike will be called off if the Federal Government pay the lecturers their arrears of salaries being owed them since they started the strike on July 1st 2013.
