Information reaching us reveals that about 500 Students from various polytechnics and colleges of Educations took to the streets in Lagos State, Nigeria to protest over the industrial strike embarked upon by Academic Staff Unions in Polytechnics, (ASUP) And College of Education Staff Union, (COEASU) that has left the tertiary institutions closed for more than 10 months.

The Polytechnic Students Laments their stay at home due to the *wicked* strike actions, the placard carrying students demanded that the Federal Government should implement the 2009 ASUP agreement and end the HND/BSC dichotomy.

The protest caused traffic jam on the Herbert Macaulay road in Yaba area of Lagos.

According to the report, Nigeria police, are packing the students like sardine, inside black Maria.
We were told that over 50 girls have been forced inside the black maria.

The Academic Staff Union of Polytechnics, and Colleges of Education and Academic Staff Union, COEASU, have been on eight-month and six-month strike respectively.
Yesterday 27 May, ASUP and COEASU held meeting with NEC and here is the outcome, we are hoping that the strike will be called off this week. Here is the ASUP table of content on how to resolve this strike.
