THE Academic Staff Union of Polytechnics,(ASUP) and New Education Minister, Shekarau are meeting at the Federal Ministry of Education to resolve all issues between the two party, and we are hoping that the strike will be called off any time soon.

For those who are not aware, the Former governor of Kano State, Malam Ibrahim Shekarau, was sworn in as Minister of Education by President Goodluck Jonathan yesterday, 9th July, 2014 and his first goal is to end the ASUP Strike.

President Jonathan noted that the new ministers would no longer sleep as they would have to learn the workings of their new responsibilities.

President Goodluck Jonathan said and I quote; “

In a football match, when you get to the injury time and a player is brought in, you expect goals. This government has less than a year to go and you’ve been brought in this time, so you know why you’ve been brought in. You’ve no time to sleep,

”.

Why was He sworn in? a lot of students might be wondering, well he is an educationist and hopefully he will pass the first test which is to end the ASUP/COEASU strike. (that is all what Polytechnic and College of Education students want now 🙂 )

You will recalled that the Academic Staff Union Of Polytechnics, ASUP Embarked on an indefinite strike to press home the implementation of their demands from the federal government since October 4, 2013.
